12-Year-Old Crash Survivor Turns Candyfloss Into a Business and Inspiration

Hashir Yahya Aziz, a 12-year-old from Shipley, will run a candyfloss stall at the North London Youth Gala this Sunday. The event will also feature a speech from him about his recovery after a serious car crash in May 2023. He will share how he remained positive despite life-changing injuries. The crash left Aziz in a coma for four days. His injuries included a fractured ribcage and collapsed lungs. These have prevented him from taking part in some sports.

Since the accident, he has undergone several surgeries. More operations are planned for this year. During his recovery, he learned to make candyfloss using just one hand.

Aziz has turned his new skill into a small business. He has been hired for over 20 events so far. At charity gatherings, he donates both his services and the ingredients free of charge.

At the gala, he will give a speech about his journey. He will also hand out free candyfloss to more than 300 people attending the Edmonton Mosque community event. His business continues to grow despite his ongoing medical treatment. The upcoming gala will highlight both his resilience and his commitment to giving back. Aziz’s story serves as an example of turning challenges into opportunities.
