Medkart Pharmacy is introducing a new transparency initiative to address growing concerns about medicine quality in India. The Medkart Assured Quality Program aims to reassure patients by providing detailed information about testing and sourcing. This move follows a sharp rise in substandard drug samples reported in 2025. In 2025, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) declared 1,879 drug samples as Not of Standard Quality. This figure is more than double the number from 2024. In response, the CDSCO has strengthened its sampling and reporting rules to tackle the issue.
A study in 2025 revealed that many patients doubt the safety and effectiveness of generic medicines. Medkart’s new program seeks to ease these concerns by ensuring higher standards. All Medkart Assured products are sourced from manufacturers that comply with Schedule M and WHO Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
Each product under the program undergoes two rounds of third-party testing at labs accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The company will also publish a Medkart Assured Quality & Transparency Report, detailing test results, rejections, and testing protocols. Medkart’s pharmacists are trained to explain quality differences and address patient doubts. The Medkart Assured Quality Program sets a new benchmark for medicine quality and affordability in India. It provides patients with clear, verifiable information about the medicines they use. The initiative aligns with stricter regulatory measures to improve drug standards nationwide.
