Philippines braces for drought as PAGASA warns of dry spells by late 2026

Parts of the Philippines are forecast to face dry conditions starting late November 2026. PAGASA has warned of potential drought in some areas, with Camarines Sur projected to experience a dry spell. The agency initially identified 47 locations at risk, with more expected by December. The northeast monsoon, or amihan, may reduce the impact of dry conditions until December. However, the province of Camarines Sur is likely to see three consecutive months of below-normal rainfall. PAGASA also predicts possible flooding between July and September 2026 due to the southwest monsoon, known as habagat.

Warmer and more humid weather is expected from February to April 2027. The public is advised to stay informed through PAGASA’s website, official platforms, and the PANAHON mobile app. The agency continues to monitor the situation closely. Residents are urged to prepare for varying weather patterns. Proper water management at the household level is recommended to mitigate the effects of dry spells.
