Utah's Largest Solar-Plus-Storage Facility Now Powers the Grid

The Green River Energy Center in Utah is now fully operational. Developed by rPlus Energies, it is the largest solar-plus-storage facility in PacifiCorp’s six-state service area. The project combines 400 MW of solar power with a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery system. Construction of the $1.1 billion facility involved 993,492 solar panels and 484 Tesla Megapacks. The work created hundreds of jobs, including roles for local contractors.

The project partners have pledged $375,000 in scholarships for students pursuing energy-related careers. They also donated $45,000 to the Ferron Fire Department, which serves the surrounding area.

Over its lifetime, the centre is expected to generate more than $55 million in property tax revenue. This funding will support local schools and public services. The launch aligns with Utah’s Operation Gigawatt initiative, which seeks to double energy production within the next decade. The Green River Energy Center is now delivering electricity to the grid. Its scale and storage capacity make it a key asset for regional energy supply. The project also brings long-term financial and educational benefits to the community.
