Clinical psychologist Elena Kondratyeva recently delivered an online talk titled 'How Not to Burn Out at the Start of Your Career'. The event took place on the House of Knowledge platform and attracted participants from the Far Eastern Federal District. It formed part of Russia’s Youth Day festival, themed 'Dream. Pride. Unity.' During her lecture, Kondratyeva revealed that 75% of young employees show signs of burnout within their first four months. She identified unrealistic expectations and weak work-life boundaries as major contributors to early-career exhaustion.
She also challenged the idea of multitasking, stating that 99% of people only think they are good at it. Instead, she advised focusing on one demanding task at a time and saving multitasking for routine or fast-paced situations.
To combat stress, Kondratyeva suggested building a 'list of joys' with at least 50 activities and engaging in one daily. She also explained the importance of three personal resources: physical, psychological, and moral. The talk supported the goals of the Youth and Children national project, launched by President Vladimir Putin. The broadcast provided practical advice for young professionals facing early career challenges. Kondratyeva’s recommendations focused on realistic work habits and personal well-being. The event reinforced the festival’s mission to empower and unite young people across Russia.
