Taylor & Francis joins Open Pharma to advance transparent pharmaceutical research
Taylor & Francis has become the newest official supporter of Open Pharma. The scholarly publisher joins the initiative to promote open research principles in pharmaceutical studies. The announcement highlights a shared commitment to improving transparency and accessibility in industry-funded research. Open Pharma works to enhance the transparency, accountability, and discoverability of pharmaceutical research. Its efforts include publishing plain language summary recommendations, which appeared in Taylor & Francis’ journal Current Medical Research and Opinion in 2021.
Taylor & Francis now stands alongside major industry backers such as AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Novartis. The publisher’s wide range of open access options aligns with Open Pharma’s goals. Tim Koder, founder of Open Pharma, welcomed the new partnership, noting that Taylor & Francis will gain privileged access to future discussions.
Elizabeth Knowles, Global Portfolio Director for Medicine at Taylor & Francis, expressed hope that more organisations would follow in supporting Open Pharma’s mission. The collaboration strengthens Open Pharma’s position in advancing open research standards. Taylor & Francis will contribute its expertise in medical and scientific publishing to the initiative. The partnership aims to make pharmaceutical research more accessible and reliable for all stakeholders.
