Crimea braces for extreme heatwave with temperatures soaring to 34°C

A severe heatwave is sweeping across Europe, with Crimea among the hardest-hit regions. Temperatures are set to rise well above seasonal averages, affecting daily life and safety. The forecast comes from Marina Makarova, a specialist at Russia’s Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by TASS. The heatwave will first bring temperatures of 25–30°C to Crimea on 27 June. By 28 June, readings are expected to climb to 27–32°C. The peak will occur on 29–30 June, with highs of 30–34°C, marking a 2–5 degree rise above normal for this time of year.

The extreme heat also raises the risk of wildfires across the peninsula. Thunderstorms and storm warnings may follow as the heatwave intensifies. Neighbouring countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine, will experience similar conditions. Crimea faces several days of unusually high temperatures, with potential hazards like wildfires and storms. The heatwave will extend beyond the region, impacting much of Central and Eastern Europe. Authorities have warned residents to take precautions during this period.
