East Delhi's skills programme celebrates 264 graduates in eighth year

A recent graduation ceremony marked the completion of the 8th year of a skills development programme in East Delhi. The initiative, run by BD India/South Asia and the HOPE Foundation, celebrated 264 young adults who finished courses in Nursing Assistant and Tally training. Both organisations have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the partnership for a ninth year. Since 2018, BD India/South Asia and the HOPE Foundation have worked together to improve employability for youth from low-income backgrounds. The programme offers parallel three-month courses in Nursing Assistant and Tally, alongside training in English, life skills, and practical sessions. The Nursing Assistant course also includes six months of on-the-job training in well-known hospitals.

To date, the initiative has trained over 2,200 students, with more than 80% securing employment after completion. Over 1,750 have already found jobs since the partnership began. Atul Grover, Managing Director of BD India/South Asia, expressed pride in the programme’s role in building confidence and skills among participants.

KS. Wungchipem, Director of Skill Development for North and East India at the HOPE Foundation, highlighted the long-term impact of the collaboration. For the next year, the partners plan to expand training to include Advanced Excel and SQL, aiming to upskill 320 more youth. The programme will now enter its ninth year with a broader curriculum. It will continue focusing on practical skills and job readiness for young adults in East Delhi. The sustained success of the partnership reflects its effectiveness in creating employment opportunities.
