Primorye launches 14 inclusive outdoor gyms by September 2024

The Primorye Territory has begun expanding its outdoor sports facilities with the first site opening in May. Governor Oleg Kozhemyako highlighted that these new spaces are designed for all residents, including those with disabilities. The initiative aims to boost mass sports and improve accessibility across the region. By 1 September, a total of 14 outdoor sports facilities will be operational. Locations include the regional capital Vladivostok, as well as Artyom, Ussuriysk and Nakhodka. In Vladivostok alone, eight new fitness zones will appear in areas like Patrokl, the FEFU campus and the upgraded pedestrian promenade on Kirov Street.

The equipment is built to withstand harsh weather, featuring anti-corrosion coatings and adjustable resistance for all fitness levels. Each piece combines durability, modern design and ergonomics for comfortable outdoor workouts. The sites are placed in residential neighbourhoods and busy urban spots to ensure easy access for everyone.

Governor Kozhemyako has repeatedly stressed the importance of developing mass sports alongside accessible infrastructure. Sergey Yurchenko, Head of Sberbank’s Primorsky Branch, noted that Sberbank plays a key role in financing the region’s housing and social projects, including these new facilities. The new outdoor sports facilities will provide more opportunities for residents to stay active. Their placement in populated areas and inclusive design aim to encourage wider participation in sports. The project reflects ongoing efforts to expand public infrastructure in Primorye.
