Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital honors first oncology care graduates on June 27

A certificate distribution ceremony will take place at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai on June 27. It will celebrate the completion of the first batch of the Patient Navigation in Oncology Care Programme. The event marks a key milestone in efforts to improve cancer care across India. The programme was jointly launched by Tata Memorial Centre and ECHO India under the Cancer Care Bharat initiative. It aims to train 17,500 healthcare professionals nationwide to enhance cancer care delivery.

The inaugural batch ran from February 7 to June 6, 2026. It included 73 professionals from Maharashtra, among them 49 Medical Officers from NHM Maharashtra and 24 representatives from BMC. The course featured eight online sessions with expert lectures, case discussions, mentoring, and practical training.

Support for the first batch came from NHM Maharashtra, the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Nagpur, and BMC. Tata Memorial Centre served as the Academic Hub for Treatment & Care and Patient Navigation under the CCB Programme.

Future batches of the Patient Navigation ECHO Programme will soon begin in West Bengal and Gujarat. This expansion will extend patient-centred oncology care to more regions in India. The ceremony on June 27 will formally recognise the achievements of the first participants. These newly trained professionals are now equipped to improve cancer patient navigation and care. The programme’s expansion to other states will further strengthen oncology services across the country.
