Neuwied Launches Fun Nutrition Course for Kids This November

A new nutrition course for young people up to age 14 will launch in Neuwied this November. Titled 'Eat Right—Your Game-Changer Course', it aims to teach balanced eating through fun activities and hands-on cooking sessions. The initiative is supported by BARMER health insurance and the 'Catch-Up After Corona' programme. The course was created by the Institute for Nutrition Communication (InEKo) and proved successful in 2023. Nutrition experts Nina Kiess and Paulina Sauerborn will lead the weekly sessions at Neuwied’s Big House starting in November. Topics will include emotional eating and the impact of social media on food choices.

BARMER’s regional manager in Neuwied, Peter Lauermann, backs the project to improve the health of local children and teens. Parents will also have a role, with two dedicated events and digital support beginning in February. The course aims to reach as many young participants as possible. The programme offers practical lessons in healthy eating for young people. It will run weekly at Neuwied’s Big House and include follow-up support for families. Organisers hope to make a lasting difference in the eating habits of local youth.
