Americans Crave Nutrition and Speed: 2025's Surprising Food Delivery Trends

Food delivery habits in the U.S. shifted noticeably in 2025, with consumers prioritising nutrition and convenience. Data from Grubhub, which partners with 375,000 merchants across over 4,000 cities, reveals clear trends in what people ordered most last year. Eggs, tinned fish, and electrolyte drinks saw some of the biggest increases in demand.

Egg-based dishes remained a favourite, with grocery egg orders rising by 58%. The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich topped the list as the most popular restaurant egg item. Meanwhile, tinned fish orders tripled, and grocery purchases of the product jumped by 209% compared to 2024.

Beans also surged in popularity, with orders up by 135%. Over 1.5 tons of legumes were delivered nationwide throughout the year. For beverages, cold foam coffee saw a 75% increase in orders, while electrolyte drinks became a staple, with more than 76,000 delivered each month. Convenience foods held strong, particularly grab-and-go options from stores. Taquitos, chicken rollers, and hot dogs were among the most ordered items. At restaurants, chicken nuggets, tenders, and strips remained in high demand, with over 750 orders placed every hour.

The 2025 delivery trends highlight a growing preference for quick, nutrient-rich meals and snacks. With Grubhub's vast network of merchants, the data reflects broader changes in how Americans choose food—focusing on both health and ease. These shifts may influence restaurant and grocery offerings in the coming years.
