Bangladesh Medical University marked Eid-ul-Fitr with a special reunion event on Tuesday, March 21. The celebration took place at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall, bringing together teachers, doctors, students and staff in a shared gathering. Alongside the festivities, the university ensured essential healthcare services remained open throughout the holidays.
The Eid congregation began at the university's central mosque, attended by key figures including Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Abul Kalam Azad. Pro-vice-chancellors, the treasurer, registrar, proctor and hospital director also joined the prayers.
Separate sessions were arranged for university authorities to meet with different groups—teachers, healthcare professionals, students and employees. The event fostered connections across the institution while maintaining operational services. Despite the holiday, diagnostic facilities such as laboratory tests, X-rays and CT scans continued without interruption. Around 500 healthcare workers managed outpatient care, with a similar number supporting wards and emergency units. On March 19 and 22 alone, 944 patients received treatment at outpatient departments. Special meals were also prepared for patients on Eid day, ensuring their comfort during the celebrations.
The university balanced festive activities with uninterrupted medical care during Eid-ul-Fitr. Diagnostic and outpatient services remained fully functional, supported by dedicated staff. No additional details were released regarding total patient numbers or extra services beyond routine treatments.
