Belarus bans unsafe Russian dietary supplements over dosage risks

Belarus has banned the import and sale of several Russian-made dietary supplements after regulators found they contained excessive dosages. The Health Ministry took action against products that failed to meet safety standards set by the Eurasian Economic Union. Officials warned consumers to check labels carefully before purchasing such items online. The banned supplements include 'Vitamin D3 2000 IU', 'Vitamin D3 + K2', 'Vitamin D3K2 2000 IU', 'Selenium / Селен', 'Vitamins D3+K2 GLS', 'Biotin (Biotin)', and 'Vitamin D3 MAX'. These products were found to exceed recommended daily doses, posing potential health risks. The ministry stressed that such high concentrations should only be prescribed by doctors, not sold freely.

The supplements were widely available on online platforms like Wildberries and Ozon without requiring prescriptions. Authorities highlighted that unregulated sales could mislead consumers into taking unsafe amounts. The banned brands include Biofarm LLC, Zhiva Produkt Pro LLC, Global HealthCare LLC, Supplement Group LLC, and WinLab Nutrition LLC. The ministry also cautioned against deceptive marketing practices. Consumers were advised to verify product details and avoid supplements that make unverified health claims.

The ban covers specific products from five Russian manufacturers. Retailers and consumers must now comply with the new restrictions. Officials have not yet indicated whether other countries in the Eurasian Economic Union will follow with similar measures.
