Bhopal's AIIMS launches campaign to track drug side effects in Raisen

A new awareness campaign has been launched in Obaidullaganj, Raisen district, to improve medicine safety. Organised by AIIMS Bhopal, the initiative aims to teach people how to report side effects from drugs. The goal is to make healthcare services more reliable by catching unknown reactions early. The campaign was led by the department of pharmacology at AIIMS Bhopal, working alongside the department of community and family medicine. Teams visited the area to explain how medicines can sometimes cause allergies, dizziness, vomiting, or weakness. They also highlighted the importance of reporting such issues quickly.

People were encouraged to use different ways to report side effects. Options included a toll-free helpline, consumer reporting forms, and a mobile app. The app was promoted as the simplest and most user-friendly method for patients to share their experiences. The campaign also introduced participants to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. This national system collects and analyses reports of drug reactions to keep medicines safe for everyone.

The initiative provided clear steps for reporting medicine-related problems. By using the helpline, forms, or app, patients can help identify risks faster. This effort is expected to strengthen drug safety across the country.
