Ciara and Russell Wilson Donate $400K to Fight Atlanta's Rising Food Insecurity

The Atlanta Community Food Bank has received a $400,000 donation from Ciara Wilson, Russell Wilson, and their Why Not You Foundation. This contribution comes as food insecurity in the region rises sharply, with demand for services now 70% higher than three and a half years ago.

The donation will help the Food Bank expand its ability to source, store, and distribute nutritious meals. Funds are specifically earmarked to strengthen food distribution across metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The organisation serves 12 counties in the region through its network of partner groups.

In 2023, the Atlanta Community Food Bank reached a major milestone by distributing its one billionth meal. Despite this achievement, rising living costs continue to push more families into food insecurity. The Food Bank has called for wider community support, emphasising that donations of any size make a difference.

The Wilson family's gift aligns with the Food Bank's mission: ensuring neighbours have access to nourishment for healthy, productive lives. Officials have stressed that every contribution helps provide meals to those struggling with financial hardship.

The $400,000 donation will boost efforts to meet growing demand in the region. With food insecurity at record levels, the funds will directly support the Food Bank's work in delivering meals to families in need. The organisation continues to urge public involvement to sustain its operations.
