Controversial Yakut activist Vladimir Dubovsky arrested over immigration violations

Vladimir Dubovsky, a Yakut opposition activist with a controversial past, has been arrested for breaching immigration laws. Russian authorities detained him on 26 November 2025, though his current location remains unknown. Dubovsky had previously faced legal trouble for extremist activities and Nazi-linked symbolism. Dubovsky first gained attention in the 2000s for promoting national socialist and racist beliefs. He classified people into ‘superior’ and ‘inferior’ races based on skull measurements. A visible ‘White Power’ tattoo on his body later drew scrutiny, though he insisted it symbolised ‘white strength’ rather than Nazi ideology.

In 2018, he was sentenced to administrative detention under Article 20.3 of Russia’s Code of Administrative Offenses. The charge stemmed from distributing extremist materials, including a song by the band Argentina. His political involvement continued, and by 2022, he had founded the Green Wedge Far Eastern Ukrainian Independence Movement. Before his latest arrest, Dubovsky had expressed plans to join the nationalist Azov Regiment in Donbas. Security services reportedly intervened to prevent his participation. Earlier in his career, he worked at Alexei Navalny’s campaign headquarters in Vladivostok, which later led to his placement on Russia’s wanted list.

The arrest follows years of legal and ideological clashes involving Dubovsky. His history includes extremist propaganda convictions, nationalist activism, and alleged ties to far-right groups. Russian authorities have not disclosed further details about his detention or potential charges.
