€10,000 Donation Honors Friend's Memory and Supports Young Cancer Patients
The pediatric oncology department at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital has received a €10,000 donation from the groupme Schaika Braunschweig. The funds were presented by group members Luca F. and Leon M. to Dr. Andreas Beilken, the head of pediatrics and adolescent medicine. The donation aims to honour the memory of a friend lost to cancer while supporting ongoing care for young patients.
The donation was collected through private initiatives during a recent event organised by the groupme. Luca F. explained that the money would help the hospital's pediatric oncology team continue their vital work. He also shared that the gift keeps alive the memory of Mark, a friend who died from cancer in 2014.
Dr. Andreas Beilken thanked the groupme for their generosity. He noted that the funds would provide essential support beyond medical treatment, assisting children and their families during difficult times.
Schaika Braunschweig has a long history of helping children with cancer in the region. Since 1993, they have run projects like the Schaika-Haus, a family home near the general hospital, as well as adventure camps, sibling support programmes, and financial aid for treatments. Their work spans over three decades, offering both practical and emotional assistance to affected families.
The €10,000 contribution will directly benefit the hospital's pediatric oncology services. Schaika Braunschweig's ongoing efforts, including this latest donation, ensure that children and families receive additional care outside of standard medical support. The groupme's initiatives continue to make a tangible difference in the local community.
