Hiker rescued after leg injury in remote Agura Gorge trek
A 52-year-old hiker suffered a leg injury on Monday evening while trekking through Agura Gorge. The incident prompted an emergency response by rescue teams in the area. His wife, who was with him at the time, remained unharmed but stayed by his side until help arrived.
The couple were found roughly 200 metres from where the Agura and Agurchik rivers meet. Rescuers from Russia's Southern Regional Rescue Center of the Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM) reached them after a search through the rugged terrain.
Medics quickly stabilised the man's injured ankle with a splint. They then carried him to a waiting EMERCOM off-road vehicle for transport. Once out of the gorge, the hiker was transferred to ambulance doctors in the city for further treatment.
The rescue operation concluded successfully, with the injured man receiving medical attention. Authorities have not released his identity or further details about his condition. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in hiking in remote natural areas.
