Kazakhstan's Beyond Sight turns trash into hauntingly beautiful eco-art

Nur-Sultan’s ÖzgeEpic creative hub has unveiled a striking new exhibition titled Beyond Sight. Created by sculptor Kanat Abdin, the show transforms everyday rubbish into thought-provoking art. Each piece carries a message about the dangers of unchecked consumption and waste. The exhibition is part of Clean Kazakhstan (Taza Qazaqstan), a nationwide campaign pushing for environmental responsibility. Abdin’s work takes discarded materials—cardboard, plastic bags, containers, and dry branches—and reshapes them into strange hybrids. These forms mimic female figures, chosen for their elegance and mystery.

The artist’s goal is clear: to spark ecological awareness. By turning trash into hauntingly beautiful sculptures, he forces viewers to confront the consequences of mindless consumption. The exhibition also marks a bold step for Kazakhstan’s art scene, blending activism with creativity. Visitors will find no traditional materials here.
