Krasnodar is experiencing its wettest May in at least 50 years. Heavy rainfall has drenched the region since the start of the month, with totals reaching nearly two and a half times the usual amount. The final night alone brought almost half the expected monthly precipitation in just a few hours. Since 1 May, the city has recorded 161 mm of rain—248% of the normal total. On the last night of the month, another 31 mm fell, pushing the figures even higher. Temperatures have also stayed unusually low, averaging just +15.7°C, which is 2.1°C below the seasonal norm.
Forecasters predict more rain on the final day of May. Relief is expected in early June, when conditions should begin to improve. However, temperatures may not return to normal until the second week of the month. May 2026 now stands as the wettest in Krasnodar for half a century and the second-coldest in the 21st century. While rain is set to ease soon, cooler weather will likely persist into June before stabilising.
