A baby girl born weighing just 460 grams has been discharged from a specialist hospital in Russia’s Far East. Yekaterina, who spent months under intensive care, has now returned home with her parents to Kamchatka. Yekaterina’s survival came after a lengthy stay at the Primorsky Krai Perinatal Center. Over 50 medical specialists worked around the clock to stabilise and nurture her. The facility has built a reputation for saving extremely premature infants.

Tatiana Kurlyeva, the centre’s chief physician and the region’s top obstetrician-gynecologist, oversaw the team responsible for Yekaterina’s care. Their efforts ensured she grew strong enough to leave the hospital and travel back to her family’s home.

The baby’s discharge marks the end of a challenging medical journey. She will continue her development at home in Kamchatka, supported by her parents. The Primorsky Krai Perinatal Center’s work has once again demonstrated its ability to care for some of the smallest and most vulnerable newborns.
