Pampanga Governor Honors Surgeons at 52nd Midyear Convention

Governor Lilia 'Nanay' Pineda honoured surgeons and healthcare workers for their role in improving public health at the 52nd Philippine College of Surgeons Midyear Convention. The event took place at the SMX Convention Center in Clark Freeport, where leaders and medical professionals gathered under the theme Precision Care in Surgery by Cultivating Leadership and Competence. During her speech, Pineda thanked healthcare workers for their dedication and sacrifices in providing quality medical care. She emphasised that precision care extends beyond treating diseases—it also involves preventing suffering, upholding patients’ dignity, and offering hope through compassionate service.

The governor highlighted key initiatives, including the Alagang Nanay Preventive Health Care Program. This scheme focuses on early diagnosis, disease prevention, and accessible treatment for communities. She also mentioned the opening of the Pampanga Provincial Hospital-Clark, the first government hospital inside a freeport, aimed at expanding healthcare access. Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, now Pampanga’s 2nd District Congresswoman, attended alongside Board Member Kaye Naguit and other medical practitioners. Pineda underscored the collective effort of surgeons and healthcare teams in advancing patient welfare and community health.

The recognition at the convention reinforced the importance of leadership and expertise in surgical care. With new healthcare facilities and preventive programs in place, Pampanga continues to strengthen its public health services for residents.
