Pampanga Unveils Cutting-Edge Infectious Disease Center with Advanced Labs

A new infectious disease centre has opened in Pampanga, offering advanced medical care and testing. The facility includes specialised wards, intensive care units, and a fully equipped laboratory for diagnosing a wide range of illnesses. Provincial officials, including Governor Lilia 'Nanay' Pineda, attended the launch event. The newly inaugurated centre features two main components: the Center for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine and the Central Luzon Infectious Disease Referral Laboratory. The lab can now test for respiratory infections, vaccine-preventable diseases, dengue, leptospirosis, mpox, HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and drug-resistant strains of TB.

The medical facility itself is equipped with triage emergency room beds, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and an Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It also includes isolation hemodialysis beds, an operating room, a delivery room, and dedicated isolation ward beds. These additions ensure the province can handle outbreaks while providing critical care. Governor Pineda and other local leaders were present during the opening. Their involvement highlights the project’s importance in strengthening Central Luzon’s healthcare system.

The new centre expands Pampanga’s ability to detect, treat, and contain infectious diseases. With its specialised labs and isolation facilities, it will serve as a key referral hub for the region. The project marks a significant upgrade in local medical infrastructure.
