PeakBridge's FoodSparks Fund Backs Four Trailblazing Food Startups in Europe

PeakBridge has unveiled four new seed-stage investments through its FoodSparks fund. The €30 million initiative, launched in 2021 with EIT Food, backs innovative startups across Europe. Each selected company meets strict criteria, including technology standards and alignment with the fund’s goals.

The latest investments span gut health, plant-based dairy, functional ingredients, and culinary commerce. All four firms operate in distinct but rapidly growing food and wellness sectors.

The FoodSparks fund was established in 2021 as a €30 million partnership with EIT Food. It targets pan-European startups at seed or early stages, focusing on five key categories. To qualify, businesses must prove technological innovation, regional domicile, and a clear fit with PeakBridge’s mission.

Among the new investments is **Evinature**, a gut health specialist. Its flagship product, CurQD, is supported by human clinical trials and used in over 40 US medical centres. The company’s science-backed approach has positioned it as a leader in digestive wellness. **GanEden** also secured funding for its plant-based ice cream innovation. The startup uses a high-fibre pre-mix to challenge traditional plant-based dairy alternatives. Its goal is to improve texture and nutrition in frozen desserts. Another recipient, **KÄÄPÄ Biotech**, produces functional mushroom extracts. Using ultrasound-assisted technology, it supplies wellness brands in more than 20 markets. The method enhances extraction efficiency while maintaining ingredient purity. Finally, **SOUS** received backing for its food and beverage commerce platform. The service helps chefs and culinary entrepreneurs expand revenue beyond physical locations. By digitising sales channels, it supports small-scale producers in reaching wider audiences.

The four startups join a growing portfolio under the FoodSparks fund. Each brings a distinct focus, from gut health and plant-based foods to functional ingredients and digital commerce. Their inclusion reflects PeakBridge’s strategy of targeting high-potential, mission-aligned innovations in Europe’s food sector.
