The Philippines recorded 4,633 new HIV cases in the first three months of 2026. Health officials reported an average of 51 daily infections during this period. The majority of transmissions occurred through sexual contact. January saw the highest number of cases, with 1,690 new infections. February followed with 1,407, while March recorded 1,536. Of the total cases, 4,214 (91%) were attributed to sexual transmission.
Male-to-male sex accounted for 3,095 infections, the largest share. Another 567 cases involved male-to-male and female contact, while 552 were linked to male-to-female transmission. Non-sexual transmissions included 13 cases of mother-to-child transmission and two from shared infected needles. The data highlights persistent HIV transmission trends in the country.
