Poshan Pakhwada 2025 kicks off with a focus on maternal and child nutrition
The Ministry of Women and Child Development will launch the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from 8th to 22nd April 2025. This two-week campaign aims to improve nutrition for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six. It operates under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, focusing on immunity, wellness, and grassroots healthcare. The campaign will kick off with a webcast on 8th April, led by Minister of State Savitri Thakur. She will address officials from partner ministries, state departments, and Anganwadi workers to outline the event’s goals.
This year’s edition centres on four key themes: the first 1,000 days of life, the beneficiary module of the Poshan Tracker, malnutrition management through the CMAM approach, and tackling childhood obesity. Activities will include home visits, nutrition camps, and awareness drives at village, block, and district levels. Union Minister Annpurna Devi will visit Arunachal Pradesh during the campaign to review local initiatives for women and children. The campaign also seeks to educate communities on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and digital tools like the Poshan Tracker. Designed to be outcome-oriented, the event actively involves multiple stakeholders. Its broader mission is to combat malnutrition and enhance the health of vulnerable groups through targeted interventions.
Poshan Pakhwada will run until 22nd April, engaging communities across the country. The campaign’s structured approach—through digital tools, field visits, and awareness drives—aims to deliver measurable improvements in nutrition and health outcomes. Officials will assess its impact in the weeks following the event.
