Region gears up for summer with 1,600+ children's camps opening soon
A regional commission led by Deputy Governor Yelena Vorobyova has reviewed plans for this year's summer health campaign for children. The initiative will see 1,602 camps—including residential, day, work-and-study, and tent facilities—open across the region.
The meeting focused on ensuring smooth operations before the camps launch. Vorobyova stressed the importance of timely epidemiological certifications, quality meals, and structured activities. She also called for stricter oversight to prevent children from being placed in unlicensed facilities.
Priority access will go to vulnerable groups, such as large families, children of military personnel, and those in difficult circumstances. Parents can apply for social benefits through local Multifunctional Centres (MFC) or social services offices. Compensation for independently purchased vouchers will depend on family status. Officials aim to resolve all outstanding issues by June 1. Vorobyova also highlighted Anapa's full reopening, following Rospotrebnadzor's approval of beaches involved in a pilot sand replenishment project. The government commission has since decided to expand this initiative.
The camps are set to welcome thousands of children this summer. With tighter controls and targeted support, authorities aim to ensure safe and well-organised stays. The deadline for final preparations remains June 1.
