Russia's First Art Therapy Retreat Honors Women in Military Service
A first-of-its-kind event for women involved in the special military operation took place earlier this year. From March 8 to 10, the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries hosted a three-day program called Women Heroes: Drawing Strength from Art. Organisers designed the event exclusively for female service members, medics, journalists, volunteers, and veterans.
The program brought together 25 participants, all connected to the ongoing military efforts. Among them were active-duty soldiers, combat medics, war correspondents, and former service members. Their roles varied, but each had direct experience in the operation.
Across the three days, workshops led by psychologists and art therapists aimed to help attendees regain emotional balance. Master classes in different artistic fields formed part of the schedule, with organisers emphasising the restoration of what they described as 'feminine energy'. Russian clothing brand NEVA, known for its focus on national traditions and patriotism, supplied branded sportswear for the event, complete with a special emblem. No records suggest that similar initiatives—combining artistic and psychological support—have been organised by Tavrida.ART or Meganom Akademie since 2023. Over a thousand women remain involved in the special military operation, with roughly one-third having received state honours for their service.
The event marked the first all-female gathering at the Meganom Academy linked to the military operation. Participants took part in structured sessions aimed at recovery and creative expression. NEVA's involvement added a national branding element, reinforcing the program's patriotic and supportive themes.
