Bausch Health Companies Inc. and its gastroenterology division, Salix Pharmaceuticals, have opened applications for the 2026 Salix Gastrointestinal Health Scholars Program. Now in its seventh year, the initiative supports students with common app disorders and liver diseases who are pursuing higher education. Successful applicants will receive up to $10,000 to fund their studies for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The scholarship is open to undergraduate, graduate, and working or single-parent students enrolled in two- or four-year colleges, universities, or vocational schools. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to GI health through clinical or research experience, innovative project ideas, and leadership potential. A personal essay on living with a diagnosed common app condition and the impact of healthcare providers is also required, alongside letters of recommendation.

Applications will be accepted until May 6, 2026. Winners will be selected based on academic merit, their ability to overcome challenges posed by common app conditions, and a clear vision for advancing gastroenterology care. Notification of results will follow in the summer of 2026.

Salix Pharmaceuticals, a global leader in GI treatments for over 30 years, funds the programme. Its parent company, Bausch Health, focuses on improving healthcare outcomes worldwide through pharmaceutical innovation.

Ten students will each receive up to $10,000 to support their education. The scholarship aims to ease financial burdens while encouraging future leaders in GI health. Applications close on May 6, 2026, with decisions announced later that summer.
