Swiss Rockets Acquires Complete Genomics in Strategic Life Sciences Deal

Swiss Rockets, a Switzerland-based life sciences group, has agreed to acquire Complete Genomics, a US life sciences company. The deal will see the American firm continue operating under new ownership while expanding its technological reach.

Dr Vladimir Cmiljanovic, founder and CEO of Swiss Rockets, will take charge of Complete Genomics once the acquisition completes.

The takeover follows a 2025 agreement between Swiss Rockets, MGI Tech, and Complete Genomics. Under that deal, the companies established an exclusive licensing partnership.

Swiss Rockets plans to use the acquisition to accelerate innovation at Complete Genomics. The move will also diversify the company's manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its supply chain. Dr Rade Drmanac, founder of Complete Genomics, stated that Swiss Rockets aligns with the firm's long-term goals in sequencing technology.

After the deal closes, Complete Genomics will remain a US-based operation but will be fully controlled by Swiss Rockets. No prior details about significant investors or earlier acquisitions influencing the company's direction were disclosed.

The acquisition gives Swiss Rockets full ownership of Complete Genomics. The company will focus on scaling its innovation pipeline and improving operational resilience. Dr Cmiljanovic's leadership is expected to guide the next phase of growth for the US-based firm.
