Tenr's height verification shakes up dating with LiDAR-powered honesty

A new dating app called Tenr is making waves by letting users verify their height with advanced technology. Since launching the feature a few weeks ago, over 700 people have already confirmed their measurements. The app's founder, Adam Moelis, believes honesty about height matters in modern dating—and Tenr aims to deliver just that. Tenr uses Apple's Measure app and LiDAR scanners to check users' heights within an inch of accuracy. This move follows years of jokes about height deception on dating platforms, including Tinder's 2019 quip about adding verification. Now, in 2026, Tenr has turned the idea into reality.

The app doesn't stop at height checks. Users receive three to five daily matches after answering preference questions. A 'Wingman' feature also lets friends help pick photos and write testimonials. For those who match, Tenr arranges quick ten-minute video dates—called 'Tenrs'—to decide if they want to meet in person. AI plays a role in screening profiles, though Moelis admits it can't predict chemistry. His focus remains on transparency, a principle he carried from his previous fintech venture, Yotta. That company faced setbacks in 2024 when a banking partner failure disrupted user accounts. Since its May 2025 debut, Tenr has neared 6,000 sign-ups. Surprisingly, the height verification tool hasn't sparked backlash, suggesting users appreciate the upfront honesty.

Tenr's height checks and quick video dates set it apart in a crowded dating market. With thousands already signed up and no major pushback, the app's blend of tech and transparency seems to resonate. The question now is whether its approach will keep users coming back for more.
