TNC Launches Science Board to Revolutionize Natural Pet Nutrition Research

The Nutriment Company (TNC) has launched a dedicated science board to advance research into natural pet nutrition. This move reflects a growing shift away from traditional dry or wet food, backed by studies showing the benefits of fresh diets for pets' long-term health.

The newly formed board includes seven experts, blending internal specialists with external researchers. Among them is Dr. Christine Nees, a veterinarian with extensive experience in clinical practice and pet nutrition. Another key member is Dr. Anna Hielm-Björkman, assistant professor at the University of Helsinki and founder of the DogRisk Research Group.

Peer-reviewed research highlights the advantages of fresh, minimally processed diets. Dogs fed such meals show improved gastrointestinal microbiome balance. Studies also suggest that puppies raised on unprocessed, meat-based diets face a lower risk of chronic diseases later in life. TNC aims to expand scientific knowledge in this field and develop formulations grounded in research. However, as of March 2026, no specific studies or collaborations with the DogRisk Research Group on the long-term effects of fresh diets in dogs and cats have been announced. The push for better nutrition comes as over half of domestic dogs and cats are now classified as overweight or obese. This trend is linked to a range of health issues, reinforcing the need for evidence-based dietary solutions.

The establishment of TNC's science board marks a step toward deeper research into natural pet nutrition. With obesity and diet-related illnesses affecting millions of pets, the findings could shape healthier feeding practices in the future. The company's focus remains on creating scientifically backed formulations to improve pets' well-being.
