Withings has unveiled U-Scan, a smart toilet accessory designed to analyse urine samples. The device is now available for purchase in Europe and the U.S. through the company's official website. It promises to track health metrics by examining key markers in urine. The U-Scan system works by detecting urine flow via a thermal sensor. Miniaturised biochemical sensors then analyse the sample, providing data on hydration, nutrition, and recovery. Users can choose between two versions: U-Scan Nutrio and U-Scan Calci.
U-Scan Nutrio focuses on metabolism and diet. It measures urinary pH, specific gravity, ketones, and vitamin C levels. Meanwhile, U-Scan Calci targets kidney-stone prevention by monitoring calcium, urinary pH, and hydration trends. The device connects to an app that delivers personalised recommendations. Features include nutrition guidance, an AI health assistant, and actionable insights. Two subscription plans are available: the Proactive Plan at $379.95 and the Intensive Plan at $449.96. The Proactive Plan includes 2-4 analyses per week, one cartridge, and Withings+ membership. The Intensive Plan offers 5-7 weekly analyses, two cartridges, and the same premium access. Replacement cartridges cost either $99.95 or $179.96, depending on the chosen plan.
U-Scan is now open for orders in select regions. The device provides regular health insights through urine analysis, with subscription options tailored to different needs. Users will need to factor in ongoing cartridge costs for continued use.
