World's First AI-Powered Cardiac Imaging System Debuts in Germany

The Heart Center in Bad Krozingen has become the first facility in the world to introduce a groundbreaking cardiac imaging system. Officially launched on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the technology promises to transform how complex heart conditions are treated. Doctors expect it to bring major improvements in precision and patient safety during procedures. The new angiography unit integrates existing CT scans in real time, allowing specialists to plan treatments with greater accuracy. It also enables the more precise use of medical instruments, reducing risks during delicate operations. One of its key features is automatic motion compensation, which adjusts for heartbeat and breathing to produce clearer images.

The system's AI-powered capabilities cut down on radiation exposure and the need for contrast agents. It delivers detailed two- and three-dimensional visuals of the heart and blood vessels, giving surgeons an unparalleled view during procedures. Patients with complex heart conditions are likely to see the most benefit from this advancement. Beyond clinical care, the technology will support research initiatives. The hospital has announced plans to work closely with Siemens Healthineers to refine and expand advanced medical techniques. As of March 30, 2026, no immediate global effects on Siemens Healthineers' cardiac surgery research have been reported since the system's launch six days earlier.

The Heart Center's new imaging system marks a significant step forward in cardiac treatment. By improving image quality and reducing patient exposure to radiation, it sets a new standard for surgical precision. Further developments are expected as the hospital and Siemens Healthineers continue their collaboration.
